We have all heard the saying, “follow your passion or dreams and the money will follow.” Over the years I have learned one thing well, and it has only come from trial and error. We must hang on to passion. I have failed and succeeded at several types of businesses, and I learned one thing fast. Passion always had to be the primary driving force behind anything that I succeeded at.
By the time I was in high school I was creating products to sell. Then by the age of twenty-two I started a jewelry company with my mother, that led us to managing craft markets and eventually to owning and operating a retail store. In the last five years I have been working solely online to supplement our family income. God has been good, and led me along the way.
As you can tell, the entrepreneurial spirit is in my blood. I know it is in my divine purpose to create with my hands, heart and with words. I love to coach and encourage others, and to serve you readers here at my blog. Those things I can’t help but not do, because God has put that passion deep within my heart.
Looking back over my life I noticed that when I would get ahead of having a mission and passion behind my business idea or say yes to a project just to please others, it fell flat. Passion and heart have to drive us. That is what propels us in parenting, marriage, in our ministries and jobs.
Have you noticed that when you are in your element and working within your God-given talents you have energy and stamina? You wake up with ideas swirling in your head, and the work doesn’t seem like work at all! This was God’s design for us as His daughters. When we are operating in this place of passion, God is delighting in us.
What Is Your Passion?
So what is your passion? What drives you each day? I want to encourage you to follow that passion, and the rest will follow. God never designed us to be working just to work. He didn’t design us to just order our kids around, or just settle for mediocrity in our marriage. He created us to be heart mothers, vibrant wives, and women that serve and minister to others with our whole being.
Maybe you are at a place where you aren’t even sure what your passion is. I encourage you to pray for God to restore those passions and dreams within you that need to emerge. Look for small ways, and baby steps to begin getting your feet wet in those places where your talents can shine and you can move into a place of fulfillment.
I can picture God right now just waiting for those gifts, talents, and passions to emerge from you, because remember, He gave them to you as a gift when you were born!
I’ll be here cheering you on!
