  1. Just love that verse, especially the Amplified Bible version: Train up a child in the way he should go [and in keeping with his individual gift or bent], and when he is old he will not depart from it.

I always thought of this verse as being about a good parent, but after reading that particular translation in Max Lucado’s Cure for the Common Life, I have come away with a different perspective. That is, if we view them, as Lucado writes, “as a blank slate awaiting your pen, but as a written book awaiting your study,” we can help them to see the gifts they have been given, to share with the world.

A very exciting prospect, I think!

  2. Such a sweet picture, Denise. I love the sight of men and children working together!

In an attempt to clean up my inbox, I am unsubscribing to blogs and re-subscribing via google reader. Just thought I’d let you know in case you were informed of my un-subscription.

  3. Did you ever hear Steve Green’s children’s song using this verse. BOY I am shocked at hoe DATED this video actually is…but I guess since my “baby girl” is 20, I should not be so shocked!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QU-SLsJZ02Q
I sing this song whenever I hear this verse!

  4. One of my favorite Proverbs. You have such a beautiful blog! I can’t wait to read more.
