Make Your Own Starbucks Green Ice Tea Recipe

starbucks green tea We love the Starbucks green ice tea, and love the health benefits of green tea. Honestly, I have never liked green tea till I tried this one.  Our family enjoyed drinking this tea so much, and couldn’t afford to get it from Starbucks all the time.  I wanted to find a way to make it from home, and to sweeten it with a natural sweetener.

You can easily make the same iced tea as Starbucks and save lots of money!

What you will need:

  • Water
  • 5 Tazo “Zen” Green Tea Bags.  This tea has lemongrass and a touch of spearmint, I believe that is what makes this tea taste so good!  This is the exact tea as Starbucks uses, but they sell theirs in expensive tins.  You can find this boxed tea at your local grocery store, for less.
  • 2-3 Tbsp of Agave OR 1/4 cup sugar of your choice.

Directions For Starbucks Green Ice Tea Recipe

*This method of making starbucks tea is similar to making any brewed sweet iced tea, and will work with any other kind of tea.

1. Fill a 2 quart pan 3/4 full with water and bring to a rolling boil.

2. Remove pan from heat, and add 5 tea bags.  I keep the tags on and hold them in my hand, then I stir them and “dunk” them in the water.

If you are adding any granulated sugar you will need to stir it in now, so it can dissolve.

3. Let tea bags steep in water for about an hour, or till cooled down to a luke warm temperature.

4. Once the tea steeps remove the tea bags and pour the strong tea mixture into a 2 quart pitcher.

5. Fill the pitcher the rest of the way with cold water and stir.

6. Stir in 2-3 Tbsp of Agave Nectar or sugar.

7. Refrigerate until cold.

That is it! So easy, healthy and delicious. Viola! You’re own Starbucks green ice tea.

  9. Christina says:

I LOVE their ice green tea, but was not sure of the amount of tea bags to use, so thanks!

Will steeping it for an hour cause it to taste bitter?

  10. I have never had the Starbucks green iced tea but we make green tea daily using our iced tea maker and sweetening with stevia. I’ll get some Tazo bags and try it.

  11. can one use honey vs Agave Nectar?

  12. So I would assume if you prefer the unsweetened version then you could skip the agave, right? I just want to make sure that’s purely for sweetening and not a “must” for the recipe. Thanks so much!
