Parents and children, join your experienced tour guide Doc on a journey through different books of the Bible!!
Pastor Patrick Schwenk, hubby of Ruth Schwenk, founder of The Better Mom, has written an awesome resource called The Dig for Kids that enables parents to easily and systematically teach their children God’s Word in a fun, engaging format that kids will really LOVE! I can’t wait to use this book for my boys.
What I love about The Dig For Kids
- Its quick & easy
- Its a fun way to get kids in the word and learning to apply it to their life
- Its done for me
- My kids will love it!
Here is what each lesson in The Dig will include:
1. The Map: Each lesson has a map. The map tells you and your child where you’ll be going in each lesson. It is a short summary of the study ahead.
2. The Dig: The Dig is the main passage you will be studying. Following each passage will be several questions designed to help conversation and understanding. They are meant to be a guide. You can use them or tweak them to help you talk with your children.
3. The Treasure: The Treasure is the big idea of the lesson. In a short statement, it is what you want your child to remember from the passage you studied.
4. The Display: When an archaeologist finds a treasure, they will clean it up and put in on display for everyone to see. This is the basic idea of the Display. It is the application of the Treasure you have found. This is a great opportunity to discuss with your child how he or she can live out the truth of God’s Word for everyone to see.
Then after each 6th lesson there is The Oasis, which is a chance to review what your child has learned so far. You can make it your own and make it fun. A quiz and coloring activity are provided, and you can provide the prize! You’ll also notice there are key verses in each section. Memorizing God’s Word is a great way to hide God’s Word in the heart of your child and also to reinforce what your son or daughter is learning.

I wonder if this book can be found in Singapore?
I would love to read it with my 2yrs old daughter and hopefully my husband get to hear the word of God.
I have 4 kids ages 15-4. I have been looking for something new to get my youngest three better involved in the Word-something I can teach them together. They are all very interested in archaeology, so I think they would easily follow the format of these books. What a blessing it would be for my children to get to experience this teaching!
I have an in home daycare in my home, I would love to share the word of God with these precious kids.
I would love to win a copy. My daughter is the perfect age and I love how this is organized.
What a wonderful way to engage my 8, 5, and 2 year old. I have been looking for a devotional/study that would work with my boys’ personality and this seems to be the right fit.
How cool is that?! I would love to win this to be able to read aloud to my grandkids over skype…They love stories like this, and it’s a great and fun way to keep them involved with Christian principles, even from afar. This book looks a little bit like a cross between McGee & Me, and that other children’s Christian spy type series… both of which the grandkids love… I was thinking if I won it, I could have it printed out, one copy for each home..(3 kids with children.) Then I could read to them from my pc.. and better yet, make a recording of me telling the story… so that way whenever they read it, I would be there virtually speaking, to read with them!
I am battling life-threatening spinal tumors, so I have been trying to think of small things I can do, to keep me fresh in their memories.. Just a month ago, one of my lifelong friends passed away from cancer… and she has several young grandchildren as well… This of course makes this idea also prevalent in my mind… as she will no longer be able to read to them… they lived close to her…Anyway, that is why I would like to win it… wholesome and exciting childrens books are welcome by both parent and child( in this case grandparent and child)
As someone who works with kids and parents, it’s always great to have good resources to share with families. Can’t wait to check it out!

Sounds like a great resource to try out…. thanks for the offer!
This sounds like a great resource for my son and I. I’m always looking for new and creative ways to engage him in Gods word.
I would love to share this with my children ages 9, 6, 3 and almost 2. The really enjoy reading and want to learn more about God and I think this would be an awesome way to get all of them involved. They love scavenger hunts and treasure maps and this would be the best of all for them to hunger after God and make him even more real for them. Thanks for the opportunity!
I have two boys and I have been looking for a way I can teach about the bible in a fun way ….
