Oh MY!!!! i LOVE this series! I do have a LOT to get done and I will NOT get over whelmed!!! So…have you ever painted laminate or press board furniture? As much as i prefer REAL wood, I do have to work with what I have :0). I have 3 black pieces of furniture…those are a better quality pressed wood from Home Depot. i want to paint them WHITE to match the soon to be BUTTER-CREAM walls of my living room! Plus a VERY dated computer desk I am using for my new “office space”. I know I will need a primer…what about sanding the surface? Since it is not REAL wood, I am not sure?
I have painted shiny surfaces and slick things. The best thing I found is called Gripper Primer – ask for it at Home Depot. I am not sure of the brand (Glidden?) it is a primer that makes the surface chalky and so paint will then adhere to it. I love it, and it has worked well for me.
Lightly sand after you apply it, and your paint will go on very smooth. Primer will be your friend.
Also if you are painting something small you can use spray paint.
Investing in a paint sprayer is also a good idea if you have many pieces to do at once, and all one color, you can get a nice even coat and no brush marks. Let me know how it goes!
