Brown Color Combinations To Make Your Home Warm and Cozy

Brown color combinations are easy to create in our homes.  A brown room is timeless, comforting and adds so much warmth and coziness. You really can’t go wrong when using brown color palette combinations because they always work and by simply adding a new accent color they always work.  Using warm tones in our house always makes the family feel comfortable and “at home”.

A Brown Color Palette Combination Is…

Warm

Cozy

Comforting

Earthy

Secure

Neutral

Timeless

Look around you and take notice of all the brown we live with every day, it is no wonder that brown room combos will always work no matter what the current trends are. Look at the earth tones of brown we see in all the wood furniture and floors we have. And brown is the color of our ever popular delicious “chocolate”, so we have no problem embracing this color! Let’s face it, we have been living with this timeless earthy tone for centuries, so the color brown is a classic that stays around time and again.

Where can you use a brown color combination?

Of course a brown room works anywhere in the house, but you will want to make sure you vary the shades within this color scheme to keep it interesting.  Keep in mind, when using a dark chocolate and dark mocha paint on walls, make sure there is sufficient light in a room.

Look at the photo above, and you can see how the  balance of white and natural light with the chocolate brown walls work really well.  If light is a problem in your space, then use the darkest shades of brown in your furniture and color accents, not for the paint on your walls.

How about a cottage style bathroom with a chocolate brown vintage tub! What a charming place to be, I would love to spend some time soaking there.

Did you know this about the warm tones of brown?

  • Brown makes us feel very safe and secured, even nurtured. That is why we can choose it without much hesitation.
  • Brown provides a softer look than black, so some prefer it when black feel too harsh.
  • Brown is a cozy and comfortable color we all live with every day. If it’s brown in our wood floors, our furniture, or our favorite leather chair.
  • Brown can be added with just about any home decor color.

Learned something new today. Thanks for posting this. Never knew browns could be so “colorful” so to speak. My fave would have to be the brown, soft red, and torquoise combo.

  2. I totally agree with you, Denise. We have lived with some very dark pine furniture pieces for almost thirty-five years and have mixed in some of the reddish-brown oaks in some of our latest purchases. I wouldn’t be happy in the all-white world that seems to be so popular right now. “Power to the browns!”

  3. Our home has a brown color scheme and I like to mix accent colors with it. Right now, I am loving the blues with browns and I’m planning on going that route soon,
