  1. Denise, I think we were separated at birth. You got to see the world, and I was stuck in Illinois! Seriously! Yes to people watching, not athletic, hate math, husband is biggest cheerleader, thirst for knowledge, love color, perceiver who feels deeply (although I’m not always sure that’s a good thing), pass me the magic wand when you’re done please, one baby in Heaven, big groups scare me, people think I’m really serious but I’m just too shy to show them my silly. One addition ~ my dream is to be a published novelist. I’ve written two novels and am working on my third, working on connecting with other writers and agents. Great post!

    • Meghan,

Thank you for sharing more about you. Its nice to hear more about you, and appreciate seeing your face and sweet comments show up here often. I can’t wait to hear more about your dream of publishing.

God bless you, and thanks again for letting me have a peek into your life.

  2. Denise, I loved learning all this about you! I am an introvert but it has been a long time since people have called me “shy”. I grew up on an almond farm, in Northern California, and I forever delight in the smell of dirt, the crunch of gravel under work boots, and the sound of metal sprinklers against tree trunks, in the summer. I love to read and laugh and write and run. I have trouble relaxing in the evening, like I should and I need to read more works of fiction. Love to you, friend! Thanks for this beautiful invitation!

    • Jennifer,

How fun to learn more about you. I feel like I know you, and yet we haven’t ever talked except for a quick bathroom hello last year. You are a dear person with a beautiful heart. Thank you for being such an encouragement to the online community, and for letting me know more about you.

      You bless me.

  3. Loved getting to know you better Denise! My husband is also my biggest cheerleader–not only does he let me do what I do, he encourages me to… such a treasure!! I cracked up that someone I look up to voiced outloud that they had a hard time finishing non-fiction books. (Me Too!!!) I know “leaders are readers” and “good writers are good readers first,” but I seriously struggle to finish non-fiction. (Of course I have the opposite problem with fiction, I read it in one sitting)
    xo

    • Ahhh Amanda, yes us fiction readers can unite and cheer each other on. Thank you for stopping by and sharing more about you. May God bless you in all you do. You are special :)

  4. I loved this post, how fun! My life seems boring compared to yours. Now I want to call you Neecy. :)

    Well…some things about me.

    1. I am very shy until you get to know me and then I don’t stop talking.
    2. I have been interviewed on television twice.
    3. I won the world’s largest valentine.
    4. I have one baby in heaven.
    5. My childhood nickname was Baby Doll.
    6. I spent a summer as an intern in Los Angeles with and urban ministry program when I was in college.
    7. I was a cheerleader in highschool.
    8. I’m writing a book about my life experience with cancer.

    There~
    That’s me. :)

    • Oh Shari,

What a great list. Thank you for sharing more about you! I love it. I can’t wait to read your book. You have been such a sweet encouragement to me, and I appreciate all you give from your heart in the midst of your current trials. You inspire me.

  5. Karen Kingsbury definitely falls into my fave category as well. :)
I’m always up for a challenge as well, I must some times think I can rule the world the way I take on things!
I sure enjoyed reading your list!

    • Kendra,

Ah… yes we love Karen. Good fiction–a good story to escape in. It’s fun isn’t it? Thank you for stopping by and participating in my fun day.

      God bless you.

  6. 1.I am completely your twin on #2.
2.We part ways on #40 but you would be a twin to my daughter with #39 & 40. I haven’t read a fiction book in over 18 years. I love reading biographies of missionaries and well known Christians and women’s Christian books like stuff by Beth Moore, Lysa Tuerkerst (probably spelled that wrong) etc. My daughter thinks I am nuts for not reading fiction.

I pray God is healing your heart and bringing you joy and blessings these days.

      God bless you!

  10. Denise~ What a fun post! So great to get to know who you are a little better. I’m just like you when it comes to blogging- I too have to be inspired! You are going to Allume right? We should connect! God Bless your day!

  11. Loved the fact that you lived in Africa (where exactly) I’m currently living in Botswana…and loved the fact that you love Mexican food! I’m a Mexican :)
    Love your blog!
    Remain blessed!

  12. Loved this, Denise! So much fun getting to know more about you…just makes me love ya that much more! Inspiration works the same for me…I wish it came easier, because time for writing is often scarce ;) Love you and I know that if *one day* I get to sit down and chat with you face to face, the conversation will be rich and sweet!

    • Ashlie,
What you are doing with little ones and your precious one on the way, that time is the best time you can spend. The writing and inspiration will come when the time is right.

Yes I pray we can meet some day in real life, because you are such a sweet inspiration to me, and I agree it would be a sweet time for sure.

May God give you peace and joy.

    4. I was homeschooled growing up and now homeschool.
    5. I a very close to all of my family.
    6. I am part beach girl and part country girl. My ideal home would be with the front door opening to the wide open country and the back door opening over the beach.
    7. I am very nostalgic.
    8. I am horrible at English, spelling and writing, yet God has called me to be a writer.

    • Jenifer,

I would have never guessed you were shy! That is amazing how a computer can help us be braver and more out-going. Reading your list, we have a lot in common, and it would be a delight to meet you someday.

Thank you for your encouragement online and to women,
      Have a blessed week : )

  14. Our upbringing sounds quite similar! My dad was a pastor and missionary also, and I lived in Russia and visited quite a bit throughout Europe as a teenager.

  15. Well, as your title says, there are 50 things I now know about you. :-) I resonate with these: 1, 20, 23, 33, 40, 42, 45 (OH yeah!), 46, 48, and 49. Number one is very like me. I love to try to break what I call the “mall face” by looking right at people as I walk through airports, sit on park benches, walk around downtown, and (yep!) go to malls. Once on a long layover (I think it was like two hours) at the airport, my friend’s teenager and I made a game to see who could break the first mall-face. It was a tie: 0-0. Then finally, one person made eye contact and actually responded when we said hello. Silly game, but it broke the monotony of the layover, and gave that one person something to grin about in their rush-rush day. I guess we were the only ones with enough time to notice those around us.

    • That is funny- the mall face. I will have to remember that one. : )

Thank you for letting me know more about you, and for being a blessing here online!

  16. I am a new follower of your blog, and you have inspired me greatly! I love what you’re doing, so please keep doing it!

    1. I love to wash dishes. I genuinely do, and it’s a guaranteed way I get left alone. However, I loved this even when I was single, childless, and had plenty of alone time at my disposal.
    2. I am not social, and struggle at parties. I do well at small group activities, like Bible study. However, I lament not having many friends, and keep vowing to become more social…which does me no good.
    3. I was homeschooled growing up as well, when very few people did so, and it still surprises people when I tell them so today, despite the fact that it’s not so uncommon now.
    4. I despise the beach. We are stationed in CA right now, and my heart craves returning to rainy forests and hilly pavement…which are blessedly free of sand and the smell of decaying sea creatures.
    5. I get so sad when a good book ends that I usually can’t start another one for a couple days at least.

    • Allison.

I really enjoyed reading your list, and I could relate to so much of it! I wish we knew each other in real life, for I am sure we would be fast friends.

Thank you so much for sharing more about yourself, and I feel like I know you even though we have never met!

Have a wonderful week and may God shower love on you today.

  17. What a fun way to get to know you better! I’ll comment on #5 and #6. #5 – I grew up as a missionary kid, too! It sounds like you lived in Africa – where else? I spent my childhood as an MK in Japan. And about #6 – we are headed to Dallas next week to visit a daughter and her family. Did you live there for very long? (Thanks for this link-up, and for the fun of reading your blog!)

    • Cherry, we do have a lot in common, and I so appreciate getting to know you more. I honestly don’t know how long we lived in Dallas, maybe a couple years. I have been to Japan but didn’t live there.

Thank you for coming to link up and for your part in writing for the online community.

I hope you have a wonderful trip to Dallas, and maybe we will meet in real life some day.

  18. Love getting to know you a little better. Here’s a few things about me. I’ve been married almost 25 years, I have 3 babies in heaven, one grown daughter who is in Grad school and a foster daughter that after almost a year having/ loving her the courts gave to her birth mom, and I was also a dancer. I danced for 12 years. Loved it :)

    • Oh Lori, I am so sorry for your baby loss and for having to give up your foster daughter– what a heart breaking circumstance. Thank you for sharing about yourself here, and for letting me know a bit more about you.

I pray that today you have a blessed day and don’t stop dancing in your heart!

  19. Love the list…and share many of your traits.
    1. My nickname when I was a child was Leesie…and now I’m Aunt Leesie. (I’ve also been called Lee, LeeLee, LeeLaBelle,
    2. I’m technically challenged though I’m forging ahead anyway. Don’t think I managed to link up though!
    3. I have had a dream for a long time…and it’s reflected in the launch of my new website http://www.CirclesOfFaith.org.
    Blessings!

    • Elise,

Thank you so much for stopping by and for linking up for the first time here. It is such a blessing to see you moving forward into what God has called you to do, and to be bringing it here online.

      Have a beautiful day.

  20. I learned so much about you!!!!! Love that . . . homeschooled and a missionary kid . . . so sweet. I did do a write up of 100 things about me . . . and I’ve been meaning to share with you the new Essential Oil blog so that you have a resource! http://www.naturallyhis.com/2012/09/07/100-silly-facts/

But a recent fact: I just lost 23 pounds. And I got my nose pierced yesterday!

    • Ah Jodi,

Love the new resource blog. You are one busy gal. So sorry we won’t be seeing each other at Allume this year, and hopefully we will meet in person someday again!

Thank you for coming to get to know me better and wow great job on losing 23 pounds!

      Have a great week!

  21. So I want to hear more about ballet….how long did you dance for?

I had a ballet dream as a little girl and FINALLY was brave enough to take classes when I was about 22…the recital…Dreams Do Come True. I was in heaven!

    • I am not sure how many years I danced. I did ballet and jazz, and it was the highlight of my childhood and teen years. It was the one place I could excel, and seemed to be the best outlet for me.

      Yes someday you will dance!

Thank you for your encouragement in the blogging world. Your writing is such a sweet encouragement to many of us.

      You make me smile!
